the Safe Childhood Foundation believes all children to be valuable. Their dedicated team provides health care packages and support to those living in absolute poverty across Indonesia. They bring the schools directly in the slums to teaching children literacy purposes; mathematics and life skills and they operate commercially and suitable systems to help families remain trapped in poverty. The Foundation also supports victims of child trafficking, organ harvesting and pedophilia.

According to research, human trafficking is the third most profitable illicit market in the world, worth about $ 32 billion each year. In Indonesia, an estimated 100,000 children are trafficked each year. Some are held as child prostitutes for domestic markets, while others are destined for the sex tourism industry or sent to "buyer" countries, including Japan, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia. There are very few shelters where victims can receive appropriate therapeutic support.

Most children in the world today live in poverty and must therefore face a difficult life; one that requires them to work, take care of siblings and care for the sick. Serious people poverty readers to take desperate measures to meet their most basic needs. Safe Childhood Foundation (a registered charity) was founded in 2008 and is committed to the belief that every child is equal and valuable. Important steps can be made to improve the quality of life, especially when children are in situations of violence.

"Concerning children, there is simply no argument to be had. All children need security and love," says the founder and director Natalia Perry. "L the objective of Childhoods Safe is to protect vulnerable children against abuse and neglect by providing love and nurturing care, long-term opportunities, and practical solutions across Indonesia without encouraging the aide dependence. "

Children MAKING THEIR OWN cHOICE dE

An example of this approach is the Sacred Enfances Slum school in Denpasar. in the afternoon until the early hours of the morning, the children are begging or selling leather bracelets around Kuta. Many of these same children now attend school Slum Safe Childhood, which provides free education and the medical and social support. They see a world of possibilities and are better equipped to break the cycle of begging and make choices of their own.

The education of children is only part of the challenge. When the school opened, the children's parents could not appreciate the value of literacy, since they themselves were illiterate. The promise of an alternative income source has attracted the attention of parents. The foundations of the sewing project was created and 28 relatives making clothes and beaded jewelry. They learned basic literacy and math, and understand how these new skills can take their children. To support the sewing project, you can find products in the new charity shop on Jalan Goutama in Ubud (across from Luna Bar); half of the proceeds go to Safe Childhood with the hope of these children may one day stop begging altogether.

REFUGE FOR CHILDREN

Safe Childhood is currently building the first Southeast Asian Safe Eco-Village for children rescued from the sex industry , trafficking networks and organ traders to accommodate children and provide 24-hour protection, therapy and medical care under the protection and care after the arm. The very special refuge will protect and support some of the most traumatized children of Indonesia, helping them to recover and preserve their stories so that offenders can be held accountable. The sanctuary will help children regain a sense of psychological and spiritual balance, so they can return to society. The team will make every effort to reunite the child with his / her family offering support in the best way possible.

Last month, the team Safe Childhood visited the sanctuary to see the newly erected Gandok, which will open living in the village safe. A small ceremony was held to honor the special moment. Safe Childhood expect to have the first phase of the sanctuary completed by the end of this year.

TACKLE CHILD TRAFFICKING

Natalia and his team have recently turned their attention to the most sinister crimes in Bali and throughout Indonesia where networks people make money from the innocence of children. To address these concerns, Sacred Enfances launched Project COCAC :. The fight against organized crimes against children, focusing on the fight against child trafficking for sexual exploitation or the removal of organs, and the fight against sexual abuse of children

Human trafficking involves the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring or receipt of a person for the purpose of exploitation. According to United Nations statistics, human trafficking is the third most profitable illicit market in the world, with an estimated value of $ 32 billion per year in 2007. A trafficker in the organized network will approach the families and offering older children jobs. Some families believe that their child will be well cared for and earn enough money to send home.

The sad fact is, once taken from their families, most are forced to become prostitutes or sold children as "child brides". Children are psychologically broken down quickly and suffer regular beatings, torture, and live in squalid conditions with little or no health care. Torture, AIDS and other deadly diseases kill them before their debt is settled. With many brothels in Bali hosting tourists and expatriates, Safe Childhood is concerned about the safety of children.
