an expected long campaign by the Indonesians to highlight the abuse of girls by their families was launched by the songwriter of Simponi local group discover how we can give a voice to women and girls at risk. "Sister endangered" is a song performed by Simponi (Sindikat Musik Penghuni Bumi or "Music Syndicate of Earth inhabitants") as part of a campaign to promote the protection of women. Hundreds of young people in Bali are now grouped in a "sister endangered" national campaign to eradicate aggression against women and girls in Indonesia.

This vital campaign launches led by Simponi, brought together many university and high school students in Bali, the Commission on violence against women (Komnas Perempuan) and the legal aid foundation for women (LBH APIK Bali).

KOMNAS perempuan

rape, incest and domestic violence are taboo in Indonesia and violence against women are not fully recognized as a problem. women who are beaten or tortured by their husbands can be cut to community support and many of these victims are afraid to freely discuss their problems.

When Simponi launched a mini-album in February this year they have pledged to donate Rp.5,000 for each CD sold to "Pundi Perempuan", a program initiated by Komnas Perempuan and Indonesian to Humanity Foundation (YIK) to support women's crisis centers in many cities across Indonesia. The local group has cooperated with Simponi APIK LBH Bali when they created the "Sister In Danger 'Roadshow in Balinese two universities and a school in 2013.

MUSIC FOR AWARENESS

my older sister is in danger / my younger sister is in danger / my mother is in danger / do not teach us how to dress / teach your brain about humanity / my family is in danger / your family is in danger./ You are all in danger. These are the parts of the words "Sister endangered" performed by Simponi local group to promote girls' and women's safety. music concerts are the main draw of the campaign with other workshops and discussion groups in the part of the tour.

Songwriter Mr. Berkah Gamulya (Mul) joined the pop-rock group Simponi to sing and learn about humanity and people, especially young people. "Sister In Danger" is a song about sadness, fear and anger and was written for the victims and survivors of sexual violence in Indonesia and worldwide.

'Sister endangered "This year Roadshow (in 11 cities Bali and Java) was a musical conversation campaign. People have contributed as participants, as speakers or hosts. the goal was to encourage Indonesians to contribute by joining any activity to stimulate the success and awareness of the campaign by donating or.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

472 domestic violence cases and sexual abuse against women and children were reported last year across the island. the Bali branch of the community center for the protection of women and children found a . of more than 782 cases of brutality against women and children have been registered in Bali last year. There were a . of 253 sexual offenses against women and children, including 190 cases of domestic violence, which were recorded in Denpasar.

Balinese families have a patrilineal family system, which is followed closely within the community. Therefore, it is important to educate the Balinese as domestic offenses are .ly unacceptable. Law No. 23/2004 on the Elimination of Domestic Violence provides that recognized violent husbands guilty facing the courtyard of a maximum of five years imprisonment or a fine of maximum Rp.15,000,000. According to Law No. 23/2002 on the protection of children, the children recognized child rapists or assault can face between three and 15 years in prison or a fine of Rp.60,000,000 and Rp.300,000,000.

Stop Domestic Violence SPEAK UP

There were 12 victims every day in Indonesia in 2011, a number that rose to 20 victims every day in 2012 (Komnas Perempuan). People often hear stories about domestic violence on national television and read about the sexual abuse of women in newspapers. Yet it is difficult for a girl or a child to feel supported enough to convey its dark history of violence or rape to a family member, or even the police or society in general. Even a woman who is a direct victim of language difficulties or put his trust in the authorities.

Domestic violence Bali is still one of the leading causes of divorce. Women are brave enough to leave their husbands and divorce. But divorce is shameful and causes problems for the woman and her family of origin.

With campaigns such as "Sister at risk" and Komnas Perempuan, more women and girls found the courage to speak. Many women report their husbands for raping girls to the police station or to the crisis Women's Centre. Watching the news on television, women and girls know what to do.

RESPECT AND EQUALITY

Simponi feel the attitude is the key to positive change. Boys and men should respect women, girls and children, just as they respect their own mother and family. Girls and women should have the courage to say "no" to sexual harassment to report any form of sexual violence. Males can spread the message of equality, respect and non-violence through their own interests or hobbies.

Help is needed to produce more pamphlets and fact sheets to distribute. We need more discussion, more music and film to educate people about gender equality, the rights of man and the rights of children. Simponi needs more funding to create events, educational roadshows, to run women's crisis centers and to support the foundations of legal aid. Bali Expat readers join APIK LBH Bali as a volunteer, or to report sexual violence to them. We must work together to solve this problem.
