Dua Tangan Cukup: Pak Alfredo Cleans Liang Beach -
Dua Tangan Cukup (two hands are enough) is a movement started by Jakarta clean up Day which encourages actions to clean up the environment, large or small, people from all walks of life around Indonesia, which in turn inspire change. We want to hear about what you do to clean your community and make a difference and we will publish your stories here, each question. This could be a beach cleaning, cleaning under water, a recycling initiative that you put together where you live, educate people how to separate waste or everything about cleaning your community. All you need are your hands and a bit of free time to make a difference.
Pak Alfredo (left) is a pilot who lives in Ambon. It often takes clients to Liang Beach to show the natural wonders that surround his home town, but on this occasion he was appalled waste destroy the white sand beach and decided to do something. He asked some local friends to participate and end collected five bags in the space of an hour, full of plastic cups, candy and food, straws, packaging and plastic bags off beach and appropriate discharge. He was so moved by this action he now writes to his local government, demanding strict trash fines for people of Ambon.
